At Prerelease you build a 40-card sealed deck from one Prerelease Pack plus basic lands. Each pack holds six Play Boosters, one traditional foil promo card, a deck box and a spindown die. Wizards notes that Welcome Decks for the set are not available in every region, and stores that do receive them won't get them until 2027.

On Arena, Wizards is streaming an early-access event today, 4 November, before the 10 November launch. The Pack Bundle costs $49.99 and gives 45 Star Trek packs, five mythic packs and five Golden packs at release, plus a Captain Kirk sleeve at purchase.

What's in the boxes

Wizards' collecting article names four things to know:

  • Signed headliner cards. Seven different cards carry a real signature from a Star Trek actor, with fewer than 250 copies of each, randomly inserted into Collector Boosters.
  • LCARS shock lands. All ten shock lands return in a frame styled on the Enterprise's computer, with planet art. Non-foil and traditional foil versions appear in Play Boosters and Collector Boosters; surge foils are Collector-only.
  • Stardates cards. Borderless reprints of older Magic cards reimagined in the Star Trek universe, such as Kenrith, the Returned King as "General Picard, Earth Warlord". Non-foil Stardates appear in both booster types; traditional foils are Collector-only.
  • Beam Me Up Bundle. Play Boosters, a Collector Booster and two of eight traditional foil Spacecraft promos in a Starfleet schematic treatment.

The main set code is TRK, the Commander decks are TRC and the Stardates reprints are SDS. TRK is legal in all formats.

What it means

For anyone weighing a Play Booster box, the shock lands are the part to watch. They sit in Play Boosters, not only Collector Boosters, so they will carry much of a Play box's value once singles have a market. The signed cards are the opposite: under 250 copies each across every Collector Booster printed makes them a lottery ticket, not a reason to buy a box.

We will add the Star Trek boxes to the booster box calculator once the set has market prices to work from. Until then, our Star Trek release guide covers every product, and the set page lists the cards.

What happens next

Prereleases start on Friday 6 November. The set then goes straight into competitive play: World Championship 32 at MagicCon: Atlanta uses Star Trek for its Booster Draft rounds, starting on release day, 13 November.
