Reality Fracture: $5.49 Play Boosters, 30-pack boxes and 500 serialized Bloodline Recollectors

Wizards of the Coast has laid out everything a buyer needs to know about Reality Fracture, the set built around Jace Beleren's mirrored "Echoverse". The collecting guide published on 8 September by Mike Turian and Jubilee Finnegan covers prices, booster contents and, unusually, how many copies of the rarest cards exist.

The set releases worldwide on 2 October 2026. Prerelease events run from 25 September to 1 October, and the set reaches MTG Arena on 29 September. The main set (FRA) is legal in all formats.

A Play Booster box contains 30 boosters of 14 cards each. A Collector Booster box contains 12 boosters of 15 cards. Wizards does not publish a box MSRP, but the booster prices add up to $164.70 for a Play Booster box and $323.88 for a Collector Booster box. Treat those as a ceiling for a sensible preorder, not a prediction of what stores will charge.

The Secret Lair Bundle is a new product line: 2 Collector Boosters, 6 Play Boosters, a set of traditional foil basic lands and 2 of 10 traditional foil promo cards that restyle cards from the main set.

The chase cards

The headliner is a serialized, double rainbow foil Bloodline Recollector in a throwback full-art frame, illustrated by Mark Poole, the artist of the original Ancestral Recall. The card carries a spell called Ancestral Craving, which Wizards describes as "a mirrored version of one of Magic's most famous instants." There are 500 serialized copies, found only in Collector Boosters.

Below that sit the facet foil "shattered mirror" cards, also exclusive to Collector Boosters and always in English. Wizards gives approximate print quantities: about 6,000 copies of each rare and about 3,000 of each mythic rare.

In Play Boosters, the dedicated rare slot is a regular rare 74.4% of the time and a regular mythic rare 14.8% of the time, with the rest going to alternate treatments. The set also has a 10-card Special Guests panorama illustrated by Marina Banker, including Consider and Necrodominance.

The new mechanics, briefly

The marquee mechanic is "empower Jace", a keyword action that either creates a Jace planeswalker token or adds loyalty to one you already control. The set also introduces Heartwood tokens, red and green artifact tokens that tap for red or green mana. Matt Tabak's mechanics article has the full rules.

What it means

Two details matter if you buy sealed product. The first is the box size. Anyone pricing this box as if it held 36 boosters will overestimate what it returns by a fifth, so value it on 30. The second is that Wizards has published quantities. Known print runs of 500, roughly 3,000 and roughly 6,000 make the top-end cards easier to reason about than in most sets. They also tell you where a Collector Booster box's value is concentrated: in a small number of cards most boxes will not contain. That makes Collector Boosters a high-variance buy, and we would not pay above MSRP for them on the strength of the serialized card alone.

Supply is a separate question. Wizards has already warned that several products will be delayed in some regions.

What happens next

Prerelease events begin on 25 September. The full set releases on 2 October, and the Secret Lair Bundle follows on 23 October according to WPN.
