Quick verdict
Magic released seven sets in 2026: Lorwyn Eclipsed (23 January), Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (6 March), Secrets of Strixhaven (24 April), Marvel Super Heroes (26 June), The Hobbit (14 August), Reality Fracture (2 October) and Star Trek, the last, on 13 November 2026, with prerelease events from 6 to 12 November and an MTG Arena release on 10 November. Next comes Nauctis: The Sunken Realm on 5 February 2027, which also rotates Standard. Wizards has dated four 2027 sets so far: Nauctis, Marvel: Darkhold Destiny (9 April), Kamigawa: Titanbreach (4 June) and Zhalfir (1 October). Two more Universes Beyond sets are reported for 6 August and 19 November 2027 but not yet named. On 2 November 2026 every 2026 Play Booster box held more in cards than it cost, led by Lorwyn Eclipsed at 1.57 times its price.
The MTG release schedule 2026 had seven sets, and the last one, Star Trek, comes out on Friday 13 November 2026: prerelease from 6 November, MTG Arena on 10 November. After it, the next set is Nauctis: The Sunken Realm on 5 February 2027, which also starts the next Standard rotation. Wizards has dated four 2027 sets so far and plans six.

The short answer: the next Magic set is Star Trek, in stores on 13 November 2026. Then Nauctis: The Sunken Realm on 5 February 2027.
What's the Next MTG Set?
The next MTG set is Magic: The Gathering | Star Trek (TRK). Prerelease events run from Friday 6 to Thursday 12 November, it arrives on MTG Arena on Tuesday 10 November, and it releases in stores on Friday 13 November 2026, according to Wizards' Collecting Star Trek article and the Wizards Play Network. It is a full Universes Beyond set, legal in Standard. Some schedules online give Star Trek's date as 20 November. Wizards' own pages give 13 November.

MTG Release Schedule 2026: Every Set and Its Release Date
These are the MTG set release dates for 2026, all seven premier sets, from Wizards' "Collecting" article for each set and the Wizards Play Network's "Dates and Details" pages. Wizards first listed the seven in Everything Announced for Magic: The Gathering in 2026 (26 September 2025).

"Standard: Yes" means the main set. Cards printed only in a set's Commander decks are legal in Commander, Legacy and Vintage, not Standard. Magic Online got Secrets of Strixhaven the same day as Arena, on 21 April.
MTG Prerelease and Arena Release Dates: The 2026 Pattern
Every 2026 set followed the same rhythm, and it answers most "when is the prerelease" and "when does it hit Arena" questions before Wizards publishes the dates:
- Tabletop release on a Friday. All seven release dates above are Fridays.
- Prerelease the seven days before, from a Friday to the Thursday before release. Wizards Play Network stores may also start selling the set's products during prerelease week, WPN says, which is why sealed product shows up before release day.
- MTG Arena on the Tuesday before release, three days early.
It's a pattern, not a promise, but the one 2027 set with a published prerelease fits it: Marvel: Darkhold Destiny releases on Friday 9 April 2027 with its prerelease from 2 to 8 April.
How Many Magic Sets Came Out in 2026?
Seven premier sets, one more than the six Wizards plans for 2027. Four were Universes Beyond crossovers (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Marvel Super Heroes, The Hobbit, Star Trek) and three were set in Magic's own worlds (Lorwyn Eclipsed, Secrets of Strixhaven, Reality Fracture). Wizards announced no Modern Horizons or Masters-style supplemental booster set for 2026. For the crossovers in context, see every Universes Beyond set.

- Mystery Booster Commander Edition: 60 new-to-Magic cards, one of them (Tsagan, Raider Warlord) first seen in Alchemy on MTG Arena. Sold at MagicCon: Atlanta (13–15 November 2026), in the Festival in a Box on the Secret Lair store and at later Magic events. Its new cards are legal in Commander from 13 November 2026 and in Legacy and Vintage from 1 January 2027, not in Standard (Wizards).
Secret Lair
Only the two biggest drops belong on a release calendar. Countdown Kit: Marvel's History of Heroes went on sale on 2 November 2026 at $199.99 (our Magic advent calendar covers it), and the Set Phasers to Superdrop puts five Star Trek drops (Wizards says a sixth will be revealed) on the Secret Lair store on 9 November 2026 (Wizards). On 2 November 2026, every 2026 Play Booster box held more in cards than its price, and every 2026 Collector Booster box held less. The cards in a Lorwyn Eclipsed Play box were worth $162.60 at market prices, 1.57 times what the box sold for that day, the best ratio of the 2026 boxes.

MTG Release Schedule 2027: Every Set Announced So Far
Wizards' 17 July 2026 announcement says 2027 "will feature three Magic Multiverse sets and three Universes Beyond sets, alternating between the two." Of those six upcoming MTG sets, four have dates from Wizards and two have dates only from press reports, as of 3 November 2026.

If the 2027 sets keep the 2026 rhythm, their prereleases start on the Friday a week before each date above and MTG Arena gets them the Tuesday before. Those are expectations; only Darkhold Destiny's prerelease is published.
Nauctis: The Sunken Realm Release Date (5 February 2027)
Nauctis: The Sunken Realm releases on Friday 5 February 2027. It is the first premier set of 2027 and a Magic Multiverse set. Its release triggers the 2027 Standard rotation, when six sets leave Standard. MTG Arena rotates on 2 February 2027 "alongside Nauctis: The Sunken Realm Prerelease events", per Wizards' State of the Formats (11 September 2026). The WPN says the paper prerelease is in January without giving dates; the pattern points to Friday 29 January to Thursday 4 February, which is also when we expect paper Standard to rotate. Scryfall listed no Nauctis cards on 3 November 2026.
Marvel: Darkhold Destiny Release Date (9 April 2027)
Marvel: Darkhold Destiny releases on Friday 9 April 2027. It is the third Marvel set, after Marvel's Spider-Man (2025) and Marvel Super Heroes (2026), announced at New York Comic Con on 9 October 2026. Prerelease runs from 2 to 8 April 2027 (WPN). Wizards' product page lists Booster Packs, Collector Boosters, Commander Decks and Collector's Edition Commander Decks, Draft Night, a Bundle, an Arcanum Bundle and two Scene Boxes (Assault on Asgard and Skirmish at the Sanctum). Wargamer reports the four Commander decks as Lords of Hel (Hela), Midnight Sons (Blade), Gods of Asgard (Thor) and Strange Academy (Doctor Strange); Wizards hadn't published their MSRP on its product page as of 3 November 2026. Kamigawa: Titanbreach (4 June) and Zhalfir (1 October)
Both are Magic Multiverse sets dated in Wizards' July 2026 announcement. Kamigawa: Titanbreach returns to the plane last visited in Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty (2022). Zhalfir, the kingdom Teferi phased out of Dominaria in Magic's story, comes back as what Wizards calls "its own plane". Neither has a published prerelease or Arena date.
Universes Beyond in 2027: Two Unnamed Sets
ICv2 (27 October 2026), Vice (18 July 2026) and Star City Games (9 October 2026) report two more Universes Beyond sets on 6 August and 19 November 2027. Wizards' own article confirms three Universes Beyond sets alternating with the Multiverse ones, which fits those two slots, but it doesn't date or name them. We found no reputable report of which franchises they are as of 3 November 2026, so we don't list any rumoured names.
The four 2027 MagicCons, as listed in Wizards' Mystery Booster Commander Edition article: Detroit (26–28 February), Tokyo (14–16 May), Las Vegas (27–29 August) and Amsterdam (3–5 December).
How the Release Schedule Affects Standard
Every 2026 premier set is legal in Standard, Universes Beyond included; Wizards made Universes Beyond booster sets Standard-legal from 2025 in Aligning the Universes (25 October 2024). The same announcement moved rotation to the first set of each calendar year from 2027, which is why there was no rotation in 2026.
So the release schedule now sets the rotation date. Nauctis on 5 February 2027 takes six sets out of Standard: Wilds of Eldraine, The Lost Caverns of Ixalan, Murders at Karlov Manor, Outlaws of Thunder Junction with The Big Score, Bloomburrow and Duskmourn: House of Horror. Foundations, every 2025 and 2026 set and Nauctis stay. The seven 2026 sets are expected to stay until the first set of 2029.
