Quick verdict

The Dandân (Dandan) Secret Lair is an 80-card, two-player deck for the fan format Dandân, also called Forgetful Fish. Wizards sold it once, through the Secret Lair Chaos Vault on 16 March 2026, for $99.99, and it sold out in under 30 minutes. On 3 November 2026 it trades at $222.37 sealed on TCGplayer, 2.2 times its price. Its 80 cards bought one by one add up to $274.16, so if you want this version, buy it sealed. If you only want to play the format, the same list in the cheapest printings costs about $70 plus 20 basic Islands.

Ten Fish, One Library

The Dandân Secret Lair (often typed "Dandan Secret Lair") is an 80-card deck for two players who share it, built for the fan format Dandân, also called Forgetful Fish. Wizards sold it once, through the Secret Lair Chaos Vault, on 16 March 2026 for $99.99. It sold out in under 30 minutes, according to Draftsim.

On 3 November 2026 it trades at $222.37 sealed on TCGplayer, 2.2 times its price. Its 80 cards bought one by one cost $274.16, so the sealed deck is the cheaper way to own it. If you only want to play, the same list in the cheapest printings costs about $70 plus 20 Islands.

Can you still buy it? Only second-hand. Wizards hasn't announced a reprint, and the singles have collapsed since March: a foil Dandân that Draftsim said could go for as much as $250 the day after the sale trades at $4.63 now.

There is only one Dandân Secret Lair product. A Scryfall search of the Secret Lair set turns up no other Dandân cards and no separate Dandân drop. It isn't a small drop of a few cards or a Commander deck either: it is a complete deck that two people play from at once.

What's in the Dandân Secret Lair deck (decklist)

Wizards published the full Dandan decklist on 15 March 2026, the day before the sale. The deck is mono-blue. The finishes and Secret Lair collector numbers below are from Scryfall, and the prices are TCGplayer market prices on 3 November 2026.

Also in the box, per Wizards' product page: a how-to-play guide and two life wheels. Wizards notes it was Dandân's first reprint since 2006, and the first new art for Magical Hack and Mystic Sanctuary.

The bonus card: two foil Vision Charms

Wizards didn't announce a bonus, but decks arrived with borderless foil Vision Charms (SLD 7040, art by Bernard Lee), as StarCityGames reported on 19 March 2026. CoolStuffInc counts two per deck. It's a nod to the fans: Vision Charm was in the community list players used before the Secret Lair, and Wizards' decklist article explains it was cut because a one-mana, instant-speed board wipe of the Dandâns was too strong and undercut fast starts. The bonus card trades at $1.66 on 3 November 2026.

Dandân Secret Lair price: what it sells for now

Sealed: $99.99 in March, $222.37 on 3 November 2026

The sealed deck's TCGplayer market price is $222.37 on 3 November 2026, with the lowest listing at $212.94. That's 2.2 times the $99.99 Wizards charged. Our Secret Lair guide logged $222.13 two days earlier, so the price is steady. In the first days after the sale it was higher: Draftsim reported resale listings "close to $300" on 17 March 2026.

The singles: the March hype is gone

Single cards fell much further than the sealed deck. Draftsim wrote on 17 March 2026 that a single Dandân could go for "as much as $250". On 3 November 2026 the two foil Dandân arts trade at $4.63 and $3.94. Ten Dandâns cost less than $43 together.

The most valuable singles in the deck on 3 November 2026:

  1. Mystic Sanctuary (foil): $19.93
  2. Capture of Jingzhou: $7.57
  3. Mental Note: $7.37
  4. Island SLD 2146 (foil): $5.25
  5. Day's Undoing: $4.84
  6. Crystal Spray: $4.75
  7. Dandân SLD 2138 (foil): $4.63

The 20 foil Islands are the deck's biggest block of value: $86.45 together, close to what the whole deck cost from Wizards.

Sealed vs singles: the deck is cheaper than its parts

TCGplayer, 3 Nov 2026
46 borderless foil cards$196.00
34 retro-frame cards$78.16
All 80 cards as singles$274.16
Plus 2 bonus Vision Charms$277.48
Sealed deck$222.37

Buying the 80 cards one at a time costs about $52 more than buying the deck sealed, before you pay shipping on 27 different products. That's the reverse of the usual Secret Lair advice, where buying only the card you want is the cheap route.

Read these prices with care

TCGplayer's market price comes from recent sales, before the seller pays fees and shipping, so a seller nets less. Many of these singles sell rarely, so one sale can move their market price. The single-card totals multiply each card's market price by how many the deck has; real listings for five copies of the same Island may cost more.

Is the Dandân Secret Lair worth buying?

For the foil art, yes, and buy it sealed: $222.37 on 3 November 2026, against $274.16 for the same 80 cards as singles. To play the format, you don't need it, because the same list in cheap printings costs about $70 plus 20 Islands.

If you want…Do this
To play Dandân with a friendBuild the same list from the cheapest printings for about $70 plus 20 basic Islands (below)
The Secret Lair version, completeBuy it sealed at $222.37 rather than as singles at $274.16 (3 Nov 2026)
One foil Dandân for a cube or a Pauper deckBuy the single: $4.63 or $3.94 depending on the art
To upgrade a deck you built yourselfThe foil Islands ($3.33 to $5.25 each) and the two Dandân arts give most of the look for under $130
An investmentBe careful. The sealed deck sells for 2.2× its price on 3 November 2026, but Wizards has said it is rethinking how it sells playable decks, and a reprint would hit the price

Will the Dandân Secret Lair be reprinted?

Not so far: as of 3 November 2026, Wizards hasn't announced a reprint or restock. The deck was a limited run, and our Secret Lair guide shows limited-run decks resold far better in 2026 than decks sold through 24-hour order windows (Goblin Storm 3.3×, Dandân 2.2×, Hatsune Miku 1.8×, Odds and Ends 1.1× on 1 November 2026). Wizards hasn't said it will sell Dandân again. If it does, and uses the order-window model it now uses for Commander decks, sealed copies would probably fall toward the window decks' smaller premium. That's our reading, not an announcement.

Build a Dandân deck without the Secret Lair

The format only needs one deck, and every card in it has a cheaper printing or is cheap already. Using the lowest TCGplayer price for each card on Scryfall on 3 November 2026:

CardQtyCheapest printingEach
Dandân10Chronicles$1.04
Memory Lapse8Homelands$0.37
Accumulated Knowledge4Masters 25$0.32
Capture of Jingzhou2Secret Lair$7.57
Mental Note2The List$5.96
Crystal Spray2Secret Lair$4.75
Magical Hack2Secret Lair$2.02
Day's Undoing2Commander Masters$1.60
Mystic Sanctuary2Mystery Booster 2$1.07
13 other spells and lands2 eachVarious$0.16 to $0.85
Total60about $70.10

Add 20 basic Islands of any kind and you have the full 80. For Capture of Jingzhou, Crystal Spray, Magical Hack, Metamorphose and Svyelunite Temple, no other printing is cheaper, so the Secret Lair copy is already the cheapest option. Several of the cheapest options are from The List and may be thin on stock, so plan on about $70 rather than the exact figure.

The community list players used before the Secret Lair isn't the same as Wizards'. It had red sources (Temple of Epiphany, Izzet Boilerworks) for Mystic Retrieval's flashback, and ran Vision Charm, Supplant Form and Diminishing Returns. Wizards' decklist article says it cut them for being clunky, hard to resolve or too strong against fast Dandân starts, and because it "liked the aesthetics of a strictly mono-blue approach". Either list works with friends.

Dandân format rules: how to play Forgetful Fish

Dandân is a casual two-player format in which both players draw from the same deck. These are the rules Wizards published with the decklist:

  1. Each player starts with 20 life and seven cards. Maximum hand size is seven.
  2. Both players share one library and one graveyard. Any card that says "your library" or "your graveyard" means the shared one.
  3. The owner of a spell or permanent is the player who cast it.
  4. When both players draw at the same time, cards are dealt one at a time, starting with the active player.
  5. A player who has to draw from an empty library loses.
  6. If an opening hand has fewer than two lands or spells, the player can reveal it and take a free mulligan. This stops once they've taken a regular mulligan.

Dandân is the deck's only creature and main win condition. It can only attack a player who controls an Island, and it's sacrificed when its controller has no Islands, which is why Magical Hack and Crystal Spray (they change land words) and Control Magic matter so much. Memory Lapse puts a countered spell on top of the shared library, so both players know what the next draw will be.

Nick Floyd created the format around late 1996 and shared it online in 2016 as Forgetful Fish, according to CoolStuffInc. For where it fits among Magic's other ways to play, see our complete guide to MTG formats.

The Dandân card: rules text, legality and printings

Dandân is a common from Arabian Nights (December 1993): {U}{U} for a 4/1 Creature — Fish. Its Oracle text reads: "This creature can't attack unless defending player controls an Island. When you control no Islands, sacrifice this creature." It is legal in Modern, Pauper, Legacy, Vintage, Commander and Premodern, so the Secret Lair copies are legal wherever older ones are.
