A few rows need context:

  • 30th Celebration R/RGB, G/RGB and B/RGB are the three RGB Mews. They have no normal set number, only a letter and "RGB". More on them below.
  • Miscellaneous Cards & Products is where TCGplayer files Ancient Mew. The two Ancient Mew rows are the English movie promo and the version TCGplayer calls the Japanese Exclusive Print.
  • World Championship Decks cards are reprints from the yearly decks of winning players. They have a player's signature, a different card back and aren't legal in tournaments, so they sell for less than the originals. The Gold Star Mew in that list is one of these, not the original.
  • Rarely traded cards can move a lot between updates, because a single sale can set the market price.

The Most Expensive Mew Cards Ever Sold

Every record sale is a graded card, and almost all of them are 10s, the top grade.

Gold Star Mew (EX Dragon Frontiers 101/101)PSA 10$86,620April 2026, Goldin

The Southern Islands Mew jumped into six figures in one go. The set is an 18-card promo collection from 2001, and its Mew is card 01/18. According to ComicBook.com, only about 20 copies have been graded PSA 10. Sports Illustrated put the $840,000 sale second among all trading card sales that week, behind a $960,000 Cresselia.

The Bubble Mew sale is the striking one, because the card is from 2024. A BGS Black Label 10 is Beckett's top grade, with a perfect 10 in every category. According to Sports Illustrated, only two Bubble Mews had received it.

The Gold Star Mew more than doubled in three months, from $86,620 in April 2026 to $192,000 in July.

The RGB Mews from 30th Celebration

The three most valuable Mew cards on TCGplayer are new. They come from 30th Celebration, the 30th anniversary set released worldwide on 16 September 2026.

  • What they are: three secret Mew cards, one each for Pokémon Red, Green and Blue, the original Japanese games. Instead of a set number, the bottom of the card reads R/RGB, G/RGB or B/RGB.
  • Who drew them: YOSHIROTTEN, the artist of the set's Futuristic Rare Mew ex and Mewtwo ex.
  • How they surfaced: the first one appeared in a video of early-opened packs in July 2026, and many fans took it for a fake. More were pulled from early product in September, and the cards showed up in the Pokémon TCG Live app on 15 September, the day before release.
  • How rare they are: nobody knows. They aren't on the checklist in the Elite Trainer Box booklet, and no pull rate has been published. According to Cardrake, TCGplayer's own sample of more than 3,000 packs turned up none.

On 18 October 2026, TCGplayer's market prices were about $6,000 for R/RGB, $3,747 for B/RGB and $3,739 for G/RGB. With so few copies changing hands, those numbers can swing hard from week to week.

Because they're new, valuable and have an unusual number, the RGB Mews are an obvious target for fakes. Buy a graded copy, or from a seller who shows the front, back and number clearly.

Ancient Mew

Ancient Mew is the promo from Pokémon: The Movie 2000 (The Power of One). Its text is written in a made-up ancient script instead of English, so it can't be played.

  • The English card was given out with movie tickets at participating cinemas in the first week of the US release in 2000, sealed in a wrapper with a Pokémon League teaser card. About $123 ungraded on TCGplayer in October 2026.
  • The Japanese card came with the movie pamphlet sold at Japanese cinemas from July 1999. TCGplayer lists a version as the "Japanese Exclusive Print", at about $419.
  • The "Nintedo" error: according to Bulbapedia, the first Japanese prints misspell Nintendo as "Nintedo" in the copyright line and have a speckled holo. A corrected print followed briefly, then a third with the Cosmos holo of the English card. The error copies are the ones collectors pay up for in high grades.

The English Ancient Mew was handed out to moviegoers in large numbers, which is why ungraded copies are affordable. Check the copyright line and holo pattern before you pay a premium for an "error".

The Valuable Mews, Era by Era

The prices below are TCGplayer market prices for ungraded cards on 18 October 2026. The table above has this week's prices.

Wizards of the Coast era (1999–2003)

  • Wizards Black Star Promos: Mew #8 (about $11), #9 (about $139) and #47 (about $170).
  • Ancient Mew (2000): about $123 for the English card. See above.
  • Southern Islands (2001), 01/18: the Mew behind the $840,000 record. About $645 ungraded.
  • Expedition (2002): the holo Mew (19/165) is about $525. The non-holo (55/165) is about $169.

EX era (2003–2007)

  • EX Legend Maker (2006): the holo Mew (10/92), about $228.
  • EX Holon Phantoms (2006): Mew ex (100/110), about $525, and a secret rare Mew (111/110), about $336.
  • EX Dragon Frontiers (2006): the Gold Star Mew (101/101). It sells so rarely that TCGplayer has no market price for it. The signed World Championship deck reprint is about $372.
  • POP Series 4 and 5 (2006–2007): the POP 5 Mew δ (003/017) is about $556, and the POP 4 Mew about $100.

Diamond & Pearl to Black & White (2007–2013)

  • Secret Wonders (2007): the holo Mew (15/132), about $241.
  • Triumphant (2010): Mew Prime (97/102), about $394.
  • Black & White Promos: Mew BW98, about $490.
  • Dragons Exalted (2012): the full art Mew-EX (120/124), about $424.
  • Legendary Treasures (2013): the Radiant Collection Mew-EX (RC24), about $274.

XY and Sun & Moon (2014–2019)

  • XY Promos: Mew-EX (XY126, about $274) and two Mew promos at $119 to $169.
  • Shining Legends (2017): Shining Mew (40/73), about $201.
  • Unified Minds (2019): the secret rare Mewtwo & Mew GX (242/236), about $429. The promo version (SM191) is about $353.

Sword & Shield (2020–2023)

  • Celebrations (2021): the gold secret rare Mew (025/025), about $63.
  • Fusion Strike (2021): the alternate-art Mew VMAX (269/264), about $236, and the alternate-art Mew V (251/264), about $103. The regular Mew VMAX is about $15.
  • Crown Zenith (2023): the Galarian Gallery Mew (GG10), about $70.

Scarlet & Violet and Mega Evolution (2023–2026)

  • 151 (2023): Mew ex as a Double Rare (151/165, about $6), an Ultra Rare full art (193/165, about $28) and a gold Hyper Rare (205/165, about $24).
  • Paldean Fates (January 2024): the Bubble Mew, the Mew ex Special Illustration Rare (232/091), about $864. It's the most valuable Mew from any set before 30th Celebration.
  • 30th Celebration (September 2026): the three RGB Mews ($3,700 to $6,000), plus a Mew ex Special Illustration Rare (152/128, about $90) and a Futuristic Rare Mew ex (158/128, about $50).

Which Mew Do You Have?

Start with the bottom of the card. The card number and set symbol tell you the set.

  • A black star with "PROMO" in place of a set symbol means a promo. Check the number against the table: Wizards promos are #8, #9 and #47, and modern promos start with letters such as BW, XY, SM or SVP.
  • "R/RGB", "G/RGB" or "B/RGB" in place of a number means an RGB Mew from 30th Celebration.
  • Text in symbols you can't read means Ancient Mew.
  • A player's signature on the art and a different card back mean a World Championship deck reprint, which is worth much less than the original.

For a modern Mew, check two things:

  • The number. If it's higher than the set total, as in 232/091, it's a secret rare. The valuable cards are almost always these.
  • The rarity symbol. In Scarlet & Violet sets, three gold stars mark a Hyper Rare, two gold stars a Special Illustration Rare and one gold star an Illustration Rare. Black or silver stars mark the Double Rares and Ultra Rares, which are worth less.

Is Your Mew Worth Money?

Probably less than you'd hope, unless it's one of the cards above. In the October 2026 data:

  • 24 of the 89 English Mew cards sell for under $20
  • 42 sell for under $50
  • 39 sell for $100 or more
  • 9 sell for $500 or more

Mew is unusual: almost half its cards are worth $100 or more, because so many are old promos and holos that were never reprinted. The regular-rarity Mew V, VMAX and ex cards from recent sets mostly sell for about $4 to $15.

Condition matters as much as the card. Prices in the table are what ungraded copies have recently sold for on TCGplayer. Scratched, bent or worn copies sell for less, and a high grade from PSA, CGC or Beckett can multiply the price of a vintage card many times over.

Watch for fakes. For any card worth more than a few hundred dollars, and the RGB Mews above all, buy a graded copy or buy from a seller with a clear return policy.

How this list is built

Every week we pull TCGplayer market prices for every English Pokémon set through tcgcsv.com, a public mirror of TCGplayer's data. We keep every card with Mew as a word in its name, outside of notes in brackets, and list it at its most valuable printing. That leaves out cards for Mewtwo alone, but keeps tag teams like Mewtwo & Mew GX, which also appear in our Mewtwo list. Jumbo cards are left out, as are cards with no recent market price. Record sales come from published auction reports, cited below.

Mew in New Sets

If you'd rather open packs, the Mew cards from recent sets are spread across products with no booster box:

  • 151: Mew ex, with full art and gold versions. Our set page compares what each 151 product costs per pack.
  • 30th Celebration has the RGB Mews and two Mew ex rares. It has no English booster box: packs come in Elite Trainer Boxes, Booster Bundles and other collections.
  • Paldean Fates, home of the Bubble Mew, was also sold without a booster box.

With no published pull rate for the RGB Mews and dozens of secret rares in every set, opening packs to chase one particular Mew almost always costs more than buying it. If you do want to open packs, our Pokémon booster box guide compares what every set's box costs per pack.

Conclusion: Which Mew to Look For

The record prices belong to graded vintage Mews, led by the Southern Islands Mew at $840,000, with the Gold Star Mew and a Black Label Bubble Mew in six figures too. Ungraded, the most valuable Mews are the three RGB Mews from 30th Celebration, then the Bubble Mew, the old promos and the e-Card and EX era holos.

If you've found a Mew, check the number and set symbol against the table above. For the most valuable Pokémon cards of any kind, see our most expensive Pokémon cards list, updated every week.
